Procedures and rules for applying export permit on timber based products
- Applicant must submit application in writing to Director of Forestry with detailed information: reason of export, product type/species, quantity, frequency, destination and information about the importer.
- Only products categorized as “semi-finished and finished” are allowed to be exported.
- Sawlog from this country is prohibited from exportation. However, the Director of Forestry upon his approval may issue a permit allowing the export of processed forest products and any category of sawn timber of any types/ species or sizes that the Director thinks is unsuitable to be processed in this country.
- Application for restricted wood products under CITES (Convention on Trade of Endangered Species) list for example ramin and gaharu, applicant must attach the following documents:
- Copy of the CITES permit issued from the Agriculture Department, Negara Brunei Darussalam (as CITES Management Authority) before the Forestry Department (as CITES Scientific Authority) can issue the import permit.
