Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei LNG is playing its part in supporting the Heart of BOrneo (HOB) 1 Million Tree Project, doing so by planting 100 saplings at the Badas Forest Reserve area in Seria yesterday.

The environmental effort was part of the Brunei LNG Healthy Lifestyle Programme (HLP) called the 'MD Fun Run.'

The event was attended by BLNG Managing Director Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin.

Nearly 100 employees together with their family members joined in the Fun'Run, which required them to walk five kilometres from the Badas raw station into the forest reserve area and assist in the planting of 100 `Sampilau' and `Agatis' saplings.

believes that the activity would encourage Brunei LNG employees and their families to be environmentally conscious.

Yesterday marked the first phase of Brunei LNG's commitment in its tree planting mission.

Personnel from the Forestry Department also assisted in the tree-planting activity, improving inter-working relations between Brunei LNG and the government sector.

"Caring for the environment is one of Brunei LNG's main priorities. We started the monitoring of the environmental performance in the form of effluent- ground water monitoring and waste management as part of our core operation back in the early days of its operations," said Hajah Zainab.

Brunei LNG is also adopting the implementation of best practice in waste management, where waste oil, empty drums, paper, bulbs as well as industrial batteries are recycled.

Brunei LNG also operates its own temporary waste oil storage area and mercury storage area and have dedicated colour coded skips and bins to segregate waste.
